The mission of the Tiburon Foundation is to seek a more fair, just, and equitable world by providing opportunities to and correcting inequities for disadvantaged people.
Guiding Philosophy
The guiding philosophy of the Tiburon Foundation is that people who are born into fortunate circumstances must honor all that they have received in life by recognizing that many people have not been so lucky, due to no fault of their own. The Foundation believes that it is the responsibility of those who are advantaged to challenge systems of privilege and to address inequities, especially those due to race, class, and gender. The Foundation believes in the moral imperative to carry out its mission by contributing to individuals, families, and organizations, both within our own community and in communities across the world.
Major Areas of Interest
The Tiburon Foundation seeks to contribute to individuals and organizations that support these goals:
Education: Programs and scholarships that enable individuals to reach their full potential, especially those individuals who have been educationally disadvantaged or who have lacked economic opportunity.
Well Being: Programs that provide funds to individuals to improve quality of life, to relieve suffering due to poverty, or to help meet basic needs such as food, clothing, transportation, or health care.
Engagement: Programs that support progressive activism, especially those that work toward fairness and equity, the guarantee of human rights, and the empowerment of grassroots leaders.
Justice: Programs that address racial, economic, and gender inequality, especially disparities in income, educational attainment, and quality of life.
